On the 22nd October 2006 I let my dad take my car in RookiRods (are you mad I hear you say) lets see!
Here he is all strapped and ready for the off.
He went out a couple of times in practice to get used to the car and looked to be in control of it.
Then it was time to get down to business and that he did. I told him to take it easy and get used to it but he decided to totally ignored me (which is nothing new).
A few laps in and it all went wrong, no fault of my dads though, he went to take over a car on the inside going in to the town turn and the driver of the other car didn't use his mirror and cut back in causing a collision, but thats rookis. The car was a bit bent but after hitting it a few times with a big hammer and strapping the front of the car to my trailor and then reversing the car to pull the front panal out, dropped in a new radiator and it was ready to go in heat 2 (only just ready though, thanks to Team Lowe!!)
Heat 2 then, He started a bit better in this one and soon started to get on the move through the pack taking over some red and superstar graded drivers, he was driving it like he stole it!. He finished 7th from the very back of the grid, "nice one pops!!!"
The final was horrible and wet and he took it very steady as I need the car back for the following weekend when The Hot Fords are back in action.
All in all a good days racing really, he loved it and wants to have a go again next year.

My son Dan "the man" Lowe was there to cheer his Grandad on, he's all kitted out ready for his turn.
