We made the trip to Brimingham Wheels 2nd June, great nights racing, my best place was 11th, still need to do some adjustments to the new car and then I'm sure I'll be on the pace again.

This is the first of three away trips I'm planning on doing. The next one is on the shale of Coventry 8th June (this Friday) I'm back at Buxton 9th June, a rare Saturday night fixture and then the following weekend we make the trip to Skegness. I'm using my old car for Coventry because I don't want to get my new one dirty! I'll be using the old one at Buxton Saturday too then using the new one for Skeggy after some adjustments, like sort the tracking out, It was suffering from loads of understeer at Birmingham and got a few knocks too.
Coventry 8th June
Coventry was a good night, great track nice and smooth and very wide with lots of room for error, their was about 30 cars I think on track at once but there was the room for them, not like buxton where I sometimes think theres too many on track at once, so theres no room to make a move. Anyway. I say it was a good night but I didn't actually do much, Heat 1, I was going well, started right at the back with Dave Cartlidge Buxton HF points champ, he took me early on but as the race went I was enjoying myself and feeling confident so made a move on Dave but it didn't come off, instead I hit Daves new car but also took to the kerb to avoid him, the last thing I ever want to do is damage someones car, and he was out in a new mk3 too, "eeek!! sorry Dave", the kerbs quite high and I ended up stranded half on the kerb half way down the back straight, the race was stopped and I was shifted, I had bust a drive shaft. After running round the pits, I managed to get a drive shaft off an incarace driver #14 (many thanks for that) and we just got it ready as the 2nd heat for hf's was starting so missed that one and got out for he final which I was doing well in until I seemed to lose power and engine was knocking so pulled off straight away. Had a great night though, I loved the Coventry shale, very smooth and great to race on. I'm looking forward to going back sometime.

All pics taken by my better half!! Thanks Shaz!!
Skegness Stadium 17th June
We made the trip to Skeggy, another round of a series that had been kind of organised. We decided to take the newer car (whoops!!) Heat 1, the car was all over the place when cornering, the back end was stepping right out. Rubbish race really because of this. Heat 2, after making a few little adjustments. Got a good start and was on the pace, doing well too, passing cars, this was more like it, at last the car was doing what I wanted it too until, contact was made with another car, or should I say the other car made contact with me and I hit the wall hard, that was the end of my day. I new the car was damaged badly because the bonnet was stuck up and I couldn't steer properly. I had nearly 1 full race in which I was doing well and really enjoying myself, I love the Skegness tarmac, it ACE!!! and I would love to go back again sometime.. I raced the once before in 2005, I enjoyed it then too.

A closer inspection of the car when we got it home shown up more damage than we had thought, the whole front panel was goosed, pasenger wing was shuved in and the wheel shuved in and under, the main front cross member has a bend in it, the bulk head is creased, the drivers side wing has been pushed back into the drivers door. We decided it would be easier to prep another car than spend loads of time trying to sort this one and it still not be right. So I've got hold of another shell which work will start on once the damaged car has been stripped. We had a good day in Skeggy though.

My son Daniel came along too and had a great time and even sampled some of the local Rabbit poops. I don''t think he liked it though!!
